Name: Sophie
Gender: F
Age: 15, canine terms
Physical Appearance: See the pic
Personality: Sophie is not, all told, the most pleasant girl on the block; in fact, to call her a right bitch wouldn’t be too great an exaggeration. The spoiled daughter of Scamp and Pepper loves to get her own way, and is a real ‘daddy’s girl’; she knows that her father will always believe her side of any story, especially when she plays the victim, and has become very skilled at using this to her utmost advantage. A favourite tactic of hers is to goad those she dislikes – mostly adopted sibling Jinx – into attacking her, then running to Scamp and claiming she was attacked without reason for the satisfaction of seeing her father punish her victim.
Sophie doesn’t see herself as spoiled, of course; in her mind, she deserves her position of privilege as Scamp’s favourite, and woe betide anyone who dares to suggest otherwise. This isn’t to suggest that she treats anyone and everyone this way, however; at first sight, Sophie may seem smug and a bit pampered, but not outright mean unless you make it onto her bad side.
Of course, without her father anywhere around now to go running to, a lot of Sophie’s confidence seems to have leaked away. The dal-mix feels particularly vulnerable without Scamp’s protection; especially since she knows there are more than a few canines she knows who would love to get back at her.
Backstory/History: Scamp and Pepper’s meeting, it has to be said, didn’t happen under the most ideal of circumstances. Wondering away from the farm one day, just to see what was around, a young adult Pepper stumbled across Lady’s neighbourhood, where the first dog she came upon was a frustrated Scamp attempting rather fruitlessly to keep his niece in check, the burden of looking after Jinx and Misten having fallen to him once Angel had fled. Ever helpful, Pepper’s first impulse was to offer to help the struggling mutt, which she did; proving herself to be much better with difficult pups than Scamp ever could be. Pepper offered to stick around a while to help with Jinx, and over the next month, she and Scamp ended up growing close, until their arrangement became more permanent.
It wasn’t too long after this that Pepper became pregnant, and soon the canine couple had a pup of their own to raise as well as the other two. Scamp, never really the biggest fan of the doberanian mixes he’d been forced to bring up, quickly began to see Sophie (as they’d named the pup) as his favourite, an innocent little girl who could do no wrong. He refused to change this view even as Sophie grew into a right little bitch. While Pepper saw just what her daughter was up to, Scamp refused to believe anything bad of his little princess, giving Sophie numerous opportunities (when mom wasn’t looking, of course) to goad Jinx into attacking her, then run to dad, beaten and bruised, and play the victim, claiming that Jinx had acted without reason. Readily believing his daughter’s word over his niece’s, Scamp would frequently punish Jinx for these instanced, in spite of Misten’s protests, and Sophie became more and more sure of herself as the animosity between herself and Jinx steadily grew.
It was only after close to ten years of this (canine years, that is) that Sophie suddenly began to realise that she wasn’t getting the satisfaction out of tormenting Jinx that she used to anymore. Where she had once loved watching Jinx fall victim to her father’s rage, as she had (slowly) matured, it occurred to the dal-mix that, well, it felt as though it was getting old. Not to say that she didn’t still dislike Jinx, or that she felt bad for her, but just that as a source of amusement, getting her into trouble was something she’d done so often it had lost the enjoyment it had used to bring her. And, truth be told, it was starting to feel just a little immature now too, so she sort of just… stopped goading Jinx in such a way.
It wasn’t very long after this that Sophie found herself in the apocalyptic wasteland that was Maplehill. Scared practically out of her wits without a clue what had happened to her, Sophie instantly joined the tribe with the most reassuring name – the Collar Clan – without realising that it’s leader was the brother of the girl she’d spent most of her life provoking.
